Subscription & Membership Policy

The new treatment of reward credits on a refunded order takes effect on September 1, 2026, and applies to orders placed on or after that date. Orders placed before September 1, 2026 remain governed by the previous version of this policy.

This Subscription & Membership Policy explains how credits work at Ruff & Royal — how you get them, what they buy, when they expire, and what happens to them if you cancel or request a refund. It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to every free and paid account. Ruff & Royal is a service operated by SKYDOME DIGITAL TRADING TECHNOLOGY LLC.

How Credits Work

Everything you create on Ruff & Royal is paid for in credits. Credits are an internal unit of account: they are not money, they have no cash value, and they cannot be transferred, sold, or moved between accounts. You obtain credits in four ways — a one-time allowance when you register, a subscription plan, a one-off credit pack, or as a reward for buying a physical product from us.

Every batch of credits you receive is tracked separately, with its own source and its own expiry date, and the price of every action is set by us on the server at the moment you use it. When you spend credits we always draw on the batch that expires soonest, so credits you paid for are not consumed ahead of credits that were about to lapse. Your account page lists every batch you hold, the balance remaining in it, and the date it clears.

Free Accounts

Every new registered account receives a one-time allowance of one hundred (100) credits — enough for two portrait sets, or eight images to choose from. This allowance is granted once per account, on registration; it is not a recurring monthly allowance. Unused registration credits are valid for twelve (12) months from the day they are granted.

Every artwork style is available on a free account, and your generation history is saved in the same way as on a paid plan. Images created on a free account are provided as watermarked previews, for viewing on screen and for ordering products from our site. A free account cannot download or export the underlying image files.

Subscription Plans

We offer two subscription plans. Starter costs $9.90 USD per month and includes one thousand (1,000) credits per month. Creator costs $19.90 USD per month and includes two thousand (2,000) credits per month. Both plans may also be paid annually: Starter is $99.00 USD per year and Creator is $199.00 USD per year, which is the equivalent of paying for ten months and receiving twelve.

On an annual plan you pay once, and your credits are released in twelve monthly instalments rather than as a single balance at the start of the year. An annual Creator subscription therefore delivers 2,000 credits each month for twelve months, not 24,000 credits on day one. Each monthly instalment carries its own expiry date and is subject to the same clearing rule as a monthly plan.

The current price, allowance and included features are always shown on our pricing page before you subscribe, and that page prevails over any figure quoted elsewhere.

Credit Packs

Credits may also be bought outright, without a subscription, in packs of five hundred (500) for $6.90 USD, one thousand two hundred (1,200) for $14.90 USD, three thousand (3,000) for $34.90 USD, or eight thousand (8,000) for $79.90 USD. Prices are shown on our pricing page and may change; the price displayed at checkout is the price that applies.

Credits bought as a pack do not expire. They are unaffected by whether you also hold a subscription, and they are not cleared at the end of any billing cycle.

What Credits Buy

Prices are set per action and are always calculated by us on the server at the moment you use the feature. A portrait set — four images rendered together, from which you keep them all — costs forty-five (45) credits. Removing the background from an image costs seven (7) credits. Upscaling an approved proof for print costs two (2) credits.

We may change what an action costs, for example if the cost of the underlying image models changes. A change applies only to actions performed after it takes effect; it never re-prices work you have already paid for. The current cost of each action is shown before you confirm it.

Credits are reserved when a job starts and are only finally deducted once it completes. If a job fails, the credits reserved for it are returned to the batches they came from automatically. If a portrait does not come out as expected, contact us — we re-run it rather than leaving you out of pocket.

Reward Credits

When you buy a physical product from Ruff & Royal you earn reward credits on that order. The amount is a share of our margin on the item you bought, so it varies by product rather than being a flat percentage of what you paid — a sticker sheet earns roughly 85 credits, a t-shirt roughly 164, and a framed wall art piece over 1,100. Representative amounts are shown on our pricing page. The amount is fixed at the moment you place the order and is not affected by any later change to our prices.

Reward credits are issued once your order clears our initial payment hold, normally within one to two days of the order being confirmed, and they are valid for ninety (90) days from the day they are issued.

If you cancel or refund an order, we withdraw whatever is left of the reward credits it earned. For orders placed on or after September 1, 2026, reward credits from that order that you have already spent are deducted from your refund at the credit's face value on the day it was issued; if that deduction would exceed the amount otherwise refundable, the refund is reduced to zero and we will never ask you to pay the difference. A withdrawal of credits will never take your credit balance below zero. Reward credits are also forfeited if your account is closed, suspended, or terminated for a violation of our terms.

Credit Expiry

Credits carry an expiry date that depends on how they were obtained, and each batch expires on its own schedule. Registration credits are valid for twelve (12) months. Plan credits are valid for the billing cycle they are issued in: any balance left over when that cycle ends is cleared and does not carry forward, and a new allowance is issued once the next payment is taken. Credits bought as a one-off credit pack do not expire. Reward credits are valid for ninety (90) days from the day they are issued.

Expiry applies only to the unspent remainder of a batch. If you earn four hundred (400) reward credits and spend two hundred (200) of them within the ninety (90) day window, only the remaining two hundred (200) are cleared. Expiry of one batch never affects any other batch you hold.

If a membership payment is not received, the plan credits from the cycle you have already paid for run to the end of that cycle and are then cleared; no new allowance is issued until payment succeeds. Registration credits, credit packs and reward credits are unaffected by the state of a subscription.

Billing & Automatic Renewal

Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your saved payment method, until you cancel. Each renewal is processed as a new order on your account, and your new allowance of credits is issued when that payment succeeds. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge the recurring fee. We disclose the price and renewal terms at sign-up and, where required by law, send a renewal reminder before each charge.

If a payment fails, our payment provider may retry it over the following days. Your existing credits remain available until their normal expiry date, but no new allowance is issued until a payment succeeds. If no payment is received, the subscription is closed and the plan credits from the cycle you last paid for are cleared at the end of that cycle as usual.

Price Changes

We may change subscription prices, credit pack prices, plan allowances, or what an action costs in credits. If a change affects your plan, we will notify you in advance by email or on the site, and the new price will apply from your next billing period. If you do not agree to the change, you may cancel before it takes effect.

Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, with no cancellation fee. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and the credits issued for that period remain usable until it ends.

Because a subscription gives immediate access to a digital service, payments already made are non-refundable and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods, except where a refund is required by applicable law. Credits have no cash value and are not exchangeable for money. Refunds on physical products are governed by our Refund Policy; the treatment of reward credits on a refunded order is set out under "Reward Credits" above.

Eligibility & Fair Use

You must have a valid account and meet the age requirement set out in our Terms of Service to hold a subscription. To keep the service responsive for everyone, every account is limited to ten (10) generation jobs per hour, regardless of plan or credit balance; this limit is about protecting capacity, and reaching it does not consume credits.

Credits are intended for genuine personal and commercial design use. Automated, bulk, or abusive activity may be rate-limited, suspended, or terminated, and we may suspend or end accounts that violate our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.

Image Export & Licensing

Downloading or exporting the underlying image file — including for use on third-party print-on-demand or marketplace platforms — requires a paid account: an active subscription, or credits bought as a credit pack. Free accounts receive watermarked previews only, which may be viewed on screen and used to order products from our site.

Export is available while your account is paid. If a subscription ends and you hold no purchased credits, any products you have already ordered are unaffected and your generation history remains in your account, but you will not be able to download or export image files until you subscribe again or buy a credit pack.

Ownership and permitted uses of the images you generate are governed by our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Your ownership of images you have already generated is not affected by your credit balance or by the expiry of any credits — export is a feature of a paid account, not a transfer of rights.
